Dear Friends, I am excited to announce our:
AAPS- Galileo Commission Summit V – Spiritual Awakenings Book Launch, happening this Saturday and Sunday, September 24-25 from 8am-12:30pm PDT.
This launch celebrates the publication of a book I recently published with David Lorimer, in which 22 scientists and academics discuss how their earth-shattering experience of spiritual awakening changed their philosophical world-views and perceptions of reality. Talk Title: Impossible Truths: Exploring Research at the Boundary where Neuroscience and Mystical Experience Meet
Dr. Woollacott will be a speaker, along with Dr. Bettina Peyton, in the Plenary Session on Saturday, August 31, at this International Association for Near Death Studies Conference.
Talk title: EXTRAORDINARY CHANGES IN THE EXPERIENCE OF LOVE AND JOY: A THREAD CONNECTING NDES AND MYSTICAL EXPERIENCES
Abstract: There are striking commonalities in the transformational experiences across meditative awakenings, NDEs, and psilocybin experiences in terminal cancer patients related to increased spiritual awareness, expressions of loving kindness, and compassion toward other living beings. In this presentation Dr. Woollacott will discuss quantitative data from peer-reviewed articles and case studies exploring these changes in populations who have undergone meditative awakenings, NDEs and psilocybin experiences. These studies show that 1) meditation training significantly enhances compassionate responses to persons in pain by more than 5 times compared to nonmeditators; this alters the activation of the neural circuitry of emotion; 2) NDE experiences result in transformations bringing about significant increases in kindness to others and spiritual well-being, suggesting they are also a vehicle for spiritual awakening; 3) psilocybin experiences also produce increased love as well as self-compassion. One person said at the follow-up, “There is more empathy – a greater understanding of people…” Another said, ‘There is “more desire to connect with loving energy and have loving energy flow through me to others. Dr. Peyton will share her experiences of the transformative power of love in her NDE and in her subsequent meditation practice. She will describe its impact on both her personal life and her medical practice as a hospice physician, and will end with a short guided meditation on love.
Radio Interview with Suzanne Giesemann: Thursday, February 28th
I had the delight of being interviewed by Suzanne Giesemann on her “Messages of Hope” on line Unity Radio program, Thursday, February 28th. The show was titled: “Neuroscientist and meditator Marjorie Woollacott shares her revelations about the mind’s spiritual power as she explores human consciousness and the existence of a non-physical and infinitely powerful mind.” The link is: https://www.unityonlineradio.org/messages-hope
And it is available in her archives.
Dr. Woollacott spoke at the conference:
Beyond Materialism: Transforming Our Approach to Well Being – April 11th – 14th 2019
Spencer On Byron, Takapuna, New Zealand
This conference brought together some of the world’s most respected, advanced health and well being medical doctors and holistic practitioners working in a multi-dimensional way; integrating leading edge science, spirituality and natural therapies.
Over the four days the practitioners talked about their latest research, evidence and experiences and shared cutting edge, scientifically empirically proven methods of healing.

DOES THE EXPERIENCE OF THE PRIMACY OF CONSCIOUSNESS IN NDES TRANSFORM LIVES?
HEALTHCARE-EDUC-RESEARCH-SCIENCE | FRIDAY | CONCURRENT PRESENTATION | LIVE STREAM
Near Death Experiences have commonalities with peak experiences in other aspects of life, but they have a key characteristic that is different from other peak experiences. They are transformational, that is, they create a dramatic change in the person’s life. What elements of the NDE are essential to this transformational process? In this presentation we will describe case studies of NDEs to find clues to the essential elements contributing to transformation; we will complement these studies with evidence from scientific studies on NDEs examining significant transformation changes across the NDE population. Studies suggest that it is the experience of discovering that, as one NDEr stated, “I am not this body; I realize that consciousness is primary and it is the substratum of all that exists” that is the key to transformation.”
Bettina Peyton, M.D.: When Dr. Bettina Peyton almost died, she had a powerful spiritual awakening. It was a pivotal experience that would prove to have a profound and enduring impact on her life. Dr. Peyton subsequently switched the focus of her medical career to caring exclusively for patients in the final phase of life. One of the first physicians in the country to be board-certified in Hospice and Palliative Medicine, Dr. Peyton helped establish and direct New Hampshire’s first free-standing inpatient hospice. Now retired, she is writing a memoir.

The Challenge of After Death Survival: Finding Common Ground Between Science and Spirituality
with Eben Alexander and Marjorie Woollacott
moderated by Karen Newell
March 21, 2018
Donovan Pavilion | Vail
The body and the brain: How do we deal with what comes after death? The question is discussed in this provocative panel discussion between a physician and neuroscientist, the first who has been to the other side and back and the second who has meditated for 40 years and published research on meditation and end of life experiences. How does a neuroscientist react to published cases suggestive of reincarnation? Can we trust an experience of a loved one communicating in a dream or vision to us at the moment they die? Hear firsthand how these scientists have grappled with these issues in their own lives and in the research literature.
Eben Alexander, MD, was an academic neurosurgeon for more than 25 years. He is the author of the New York Times #1 bestseller “Proof of Heaven” and “The Map of Heaven.”” His third book, co-authored with Karen Newell, is Living in a Mindful Universe: A Neurosurgeon’s Journey into the Heart of Consciousness”.
